Stickworld is a lot like Earth, having at least 99.99%
commonality with our planet. It has temperate and torrid zones, sunny days and rain. When and where it's cold there
the inhabitants wear hoodies and wetsuits. It has the same stuff as us, cars, TVs, bongo drums, and, of course,
surfboards which are known universally there as "sticks" just like on Earth in the olden days. It spins
counter-clockwise if you look down at it from its north pole and the rest of its physics is pretty much the same
as ours as well except for 2 small exceptions, which we'll get to in a minute. One thing that Stickworld has perfectly
in common with Earth is that nobody there gets all the water time that they want. That, it seems, is a truly universal
lament!
One physical difference between Stickworld and Earth
is the relative size of our gizmos and appliances. For us, TVs and refrigerators and PDAs are all sized appropriately
to their purpose. Fridges are big so we can get lots of stuff in them and PDAs are small so they fit in our pockets.
For the stickmen people all appliances are oversized, freakishly big in some cases like the man-sized computer
monitors that appear in some strips and their accompanying knee high keyboards. Another thing about stickmen accessories
that you'll have to get used to is that whatever is needed in a scene can be put in play with no more effort than
a whim-kind of like Dora's backpack if you're hip to that.
The other difference is that images of stickmen, their
pictures, videos and manual arts look more like us than like them. If you or I look at one of them we see lines
and circles. They all look alike to us and that's why we're lucky they all wear different colored jams. But if
you take a picture or otherwise create an image in Stickworld you get a fully featured person. We can't tell who
it is but somehow they do. They can identify just which particular stickman that seemingly made up set of features
belongs to.
It's really the only part of it that gives me the creeps,
kind of like that old sci-fi flick in which the aliens, seemingly normal and friendly, had that one big secret
that they kept to themselves all along, except for a wry smirk you'd think you'd caught every once in a while,
until, revealing it en masse at the climax, it turns out to be a huge bummer for everyone! So please, be watchful.
But don't let that ruin the ride for you! Remember,
they may not even have this big "secret" and unless and until they do put it in play, these dudes are
fun!
